Oxford made a clean sweep of the trophies at the 2004 Varsity Match held on Wimbledon Common. Ed Catmur (OUOC), running on home ground, won the men's event by nearly eight minutes. Along with Alex Rothman, Tom Cochrane and Chris Davidson he also put a convincing margin of forty-seven minutes between the OUOC and CUOC men's teams.
In the women's race Pippa Whitehouse (OUOC) also had a storming run coming home nearly six minutes in front of the rest of the field. Becky Carlyle and Anne Osbourne took second and third place giving Oxford another convincing lead.
Neil Cumpstey (OUOC) won the men's B race with Oxford winning the team prize by default. Susan Cook (OUOC) won the women's B. The JOK/Drongo trophy was reduced to three men and one woman to count. The JOK team of David Currie, Phil Marsland, Simon Hunt and Heather Walton managed another convincing win.
To round off a successful day, Oxford also took home the beer race trophy!
